Introducing Mingle Proj-o-matic
Dream It... Done. Bookmark and Share

Note to the humor-challenged: This was an April Fools' Joke. There is no Proj-o-matic. Get over it. If you can.

Mingle Proj-o-matic, a revolutionary new feature in Mingle, completely automates the software development process. Highly intuitive and powerfully predictive, this feature does away with the need to hire a large team of developers, testers and analysts for creating software. Simply create the story cards and watch as Mingle handles the rest!

Benefits of Mingle Proj-o-matic

  • Say good-bye to off-shoring and meetings with difficult developers. All you need are the business experts.
  • Bring time-to-market to near-zero through massive parallelization of the development process.
  • Proj-o-matic works for you 24/7, since it is based on Amazon's Mechanical Turk™.
  • No more uncertain deadlines. With real time project metrics, Mingle diagrams will predict precisely what day the project will complete.

  • Burn-down chart
    The impact of Proj-o-matic.

  • Maintainability through full regression test suites.
  • Choose your technology: Proj-o-matic probably already supports your language of choice.

  • Ruby, Python etc.
Just some of the languages Proj-o-matic supports.

  • Slash licensing costs considerably as the entire infrastructure is open source.
  • Throttle the speed of your IT projects simply by allocating more money to them. The more expensive the Mechanical Turk™ task, the faster it is completed.

Licensing Terms

At ThoughtWorks, we believe we are revolutionizing IT, and with the release of Proj-o-matic it is "Mission Accomplished"! Therefore, we will not be charging for it.

But we do ask for your help in our endeavor to make the world a better place. Our pilot customers have slashed their development costs by as much as 78% (on average). When you sign the Proj-o-matic license agreement you place yourself in a binding contract to donate 10% of the resulting savings to a recognized charity.

Testimonials

Jushté Gult, CTO Peter & Wolf Associates: "We kicked out our high priced consulting company, threw out their code, burned our J2EE server licenses and brought in Mingle. Two weeks later we had an initial release with core functionality deployed to production. Every day we make huge strides toward feature completeness and we have slashed our IT costs by 83%. Very handy, given the current state of the economy."

Ittsaf Able, CEO Chick & Little International: "I can't tell you how nervous it used to make me when the monthly report from IT was always 'the sky is falling.' With Proj-o-matic, all that has changed. Ever since I have deployed it, I sleep easy at night."

Powered by Mechanical Turk™

Mingle uses Amazon's Mechanical Turk™ web service to break a story down to a micro-story level. Micro stories are written in a patented Domain Specific Language that compiles down to unit tests and acceptance tests. Once the story is converted to micro stories these are implemented in the Mechanical Turk™. A micro task done by the Turk is only considered complete when the given test passes. When the micro tasks are completed and regression suite past, the Mechanical Turk™ contractor who submitted the code gets paid. When it passes all the tests the story moves on to Acceptance Testing. At this stage the code is automatically deployed and the business can evaluate the result. The standard Agile workflow applies, so additional features can be added as new stories at this point.

The Proj-o-matic provides a specialized context sensitive Integrated Development and Deployment Environment (IDDE) so that anyone can "write" code that works. Everything is drag-and-drop. No tricky language syntax required. Unit tests are constantly run so that the Turk knows when the task is complete. On average we have found that our micro tasks are completed in less than 2 minutes.
